Busy Few Weeks

We're always busy, but this month has felt like we were on "The Amazing Race" running from one destination to the next.

Brody had a 2nd grade musical production called "It's Easy Being Green" that he really enjoyed being part of and talked about a lot. But to see him in the video he seems to have a bit of stage fright. It was really cute and I will try to upload a video for you to see. (Can I do that later?)

The girls' middle school had its Spring Dance and D went all by herself. C wanted to go but she had musical theater practice that she really couldn't miss. D had a great time even though I was a little worried about her going alone. She doesn't have any really close friends at school so she just flitted from one set of people she knew to the next and C's friends even had her dance with them for a bit. I was thankful they looked out for her. For the last dance song they played "Don't Stop Believing" which is a family favorite so D belted that out with her cousin M. She was thrilled when she got home. She looked beautiful all dressed up.

C got to go bowling after her rehearsal with her girlfriends that did go to the dance. I think we got to the bowling alley a little after 11:00PM. It wasn't very crowded and everything was glowing for cosmic bowling. I even got to bowl with my brother Johnny and my nieces. I had brought a book thinking I would just be "chaperoning". Guess what happened on my first turn. I got a spare and I broke a nail! I had to put that in there for you Kelly. I had a great time taking pictures of the girls in their fancy dresses with the bowling shoes. I couldn't quite capture just how cool the fluorescent lights were though.

After bowling we went to The Waffle House for...I don't even know what you call it at 1:00A.M. We all just sort of slouched in the booth and swivel chairs moving food towards our mouths. I'm sure it was a sight to see. We were pretty exhausted, but memories were made. : )

C has been taking a musical theater class since the middle of January and they just had their performance. The students wrote the script and the lyrics to songs that they sang. It was really fabulous! C definitely has a gift. I feel inadequate as her mom because I'm not sure how to best foster her talent. I'll try to upload a bit of video from her performance. It was a murder mystery that was based on the Clue board game, but they also incorporated other mystery characters...Nancy Drew, Velma, Cam Jansen, Sherlock Holmes and Watson. It was too cute. She loved it and can't wait to do more. I don't know when they will offer that class again though.

While we were at the "cast party" after the show, John B. calls and asks if the kids want to go out on the boat with him and his kids. (Well, 2 of his kids. #3 is not even 2 weeks old.) OF COURSE the kids want to go play in the water. What kind of question is that?  So we rush home and dig out swimsuits and water shoes that haven't been touched since last summer. We found 2 matching pairs of shoes and one non-matching pair. WHERE ARE THE MISSING SHOES? I don't know why I get so upset. This is our normal. I should get upset when things ARE where they are supposed to be. (Right about now my students would be shouting "Rabbit trail, Mrs. Beal")

So, due to new baby #3's car seat in John's vehicle there is not enough room for all 4 of mine in his van. And I would never ask anyone to remove a car seat because that is just crazy talk. If you've ever properly installed one of those suckers, you know what I'm talking about. (rabbit trail)

I gladly drove my kids to the dock and I was able to take some great pictures as they started their adventure. They had a lot of fun, but it did pretty much confirm John's trail name being "Postal". There are not many people who would voluntarily take 6 kids out on a boat. My kids will have fond memories of Mr. John. He's also taken the boys mountain biking on the UWF bike trails. They constantly ask when they are going to get to do that again. (Thanks, Mr. John. ; ) JK)
